Apparently Marketing doesn't love me, because I'm only getting the big red 'X' thing.

    *is sad* :-(

    Same here.

That is still a red X.

Seems to be a browser issue; it's working for most in Firefox, but not in IE.

    It's a conspiracy against IE!

Could it be that the picture is set to "friends only" or something like that?

That hasn't been my experience. I checked a second time from my girlfriend's computer using Firefox, and still couldn't see it. Unless it's something specific about certain versions of Firefox.

    Alas, it's still a red 'X'.

Are you having odd Wraith flashbacks, too?
zenten From: zenten Date: February 20th, 2009 01:45 pm (UTC) (Link)
I didn't clue in to the lock and key thing. It was more the mutton chops that were confusing me.

    *bounces*

The original Wraith book had a lock on the cover; the Geist skull has a key, and possibly a keyhole in the negative space.

If you look at it long enough, then look away and at a blank white space on a wall, you see a cool after-image. Try it. For serious.

I couldn't see it online on IE or Google Chrome, but I attempted to save the image anyways... when I opened the picture on my desktop it appeared.

I feel loved. I wasn't expecting anything until March or April. But damn if I don't feel like I'm going crazy without Geist news. Thanks for the fix.
barrington From: barrington Date: February 19th, 2009 11:34 pm (UTC) (Link)
Ooooh....exciting. Baffling, mind; I've still no idea what Geist will be, which is the most exciting part - but after Promethean and Changeling, I know it'll be great.

I'm going to take it easy this time, though. Just wait and see, rather than chase every breadcrumb. I still haven't read all the way through Vigil yet!
From: blackedout_sd Date: February 20th, 2009 12:01 am (UTC) (Link)
From what has been revealed it would appear to be White Wolf's latest take on ghosts.
barrington From: barrington Date: February 20th, 2009 12:06 am (UTC) (Link)
Oh, sure, that much I know. But the exciting part is that ghosts - as already detailed in the core book, and in bits and pieces in Mage and so on - are not at all playable as characters. Just echoes. Geist, therefore, must be something different, and based on Changeling and Hunter and the big three, it will also be quite different to Wraith.

But beyond that...? Who knows? Will the characters be actual ghosts? Will they be halfway between living and dead, like some of the Orpheus stuff? Will they be living people cursed to interact with the dead?

Could be any, all or none of those. And I'm excited precisely because I don't know!
    caesarsalad77 From: caesarsalad77 Date: February 20th, 2009 12:56 am (UTC) (Link)
I'd say look to Creation's Underworld, which seemed to me to be an updated adaptation informed by Wraith and Orpheus. No doubt some of the ground covered there will be covered in Geist.

I just hope I can be a sort of poltergeist, chuckin' shit about.
From: (Anonymous) Date: February 20th, 2009 06:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
All that's been revealed is the game name and the skull, so I don't see where you're getting that from.

Not that I'd object if it were.

The red x seems to be a browser issue, so the picture doesn't show up on internet explorer but does show up on firefox.

For those that don't have firefox, you can find the image here. I'm not sure about other browsers, but I've checked and I know it's at least internet explorer compatible. Enjoy. :)

    That said, OMG! *flail*
sorceror From: sorceror Date: February 20th, 2009 03:05 pm (UTC) (Link)
Ah, thanks. The original *still* doesn't appear even when I use Firefox, but I could see this one.

I'm using Chrome and I can't see it. I think you need to re-incode the picture to a different format. Whatever's happening software wise, it's not coming across right. :P

It apparently just lacks the .jpeg from the end. Save, add that, works.
