    New Wave Requiem is coming....
I'm so irrationally excited about this book that I just had to share (after getting Kelley's permission, of course).

    twenty-four hour party people

    Oh man.

    Ohhhh man.

I am definitely setting my New Wave Requiem game in late-70s/early 80s Manchester, UK. Just thinking of the soundtrack has my mouth watering.

    Re: twenty-four hour party people

I should admit that the book is explicitly about America in the 80s, due to space. I really debated a section on Thatcher England -- maybe as a small PDF appendix in the future.

    More Grist for Pinky's mill.

This makes me smile in my cold black heart.
    :D

You know, I've nearly got enough material for Pinky's second book. MADNESS!

I don't even own V:tR (yet) and I'm excited for this book.

Whose idea was this, anyways? "Hey, let's explore the 1980's Vampire scene!" It's really quite genius and had got me wondering if there's anything else in the pipelines like this.

There's a little tickle in the back of my brain that wants to explore the supernatural world of pre and post Depression-era U.S.

Winter Court changelings feeding off despair. Vampires running speakeasies. Prometheans in the dust bowl.

    Whose idea was this, anyways?

    Largely mine, but by accident.

Long story short, I had the core of the idea back in oWoD. I had forgotten all about it, until a bunch of us were joking around the office in late 2007/early 2008 about writing SASs based around 80s vampire movies. I went home and wrote several pages of an outline that night, and stuck it under the Vampire developer's nose. Lots of nuances and ideas came from most everyone in the office, but I certainly had the lion's share of input on the project as the developer of the book.

I don't know if it's "genius," but a lot of people have certainly had that moment of "Oh! Of course!" when they hear about it. I just hope the final product is half as good as everyone expects it to be. :)

That cover looks awesome! Very striking.

I reminds me of those old-school Cyberpunk 2020 supplement book covers, which is totally fitting as it was a game that was an 80s vision of the future.

Wild! I actually referenced that in my original outline for art inspirations.

I think I'm in love. I hope you didn't forget to mention the contribution of Ant Music to the 80s?

    Sheer genius. It's perfect.

I love the razor blades scattered about, which are clearly for divvying up lines of cocaine (as seen in the upper left) and probably for ease of accessing blood as well. (:

    The artist

If any of you make it to NY Comic Con this weekend find Erik Jones and shake his hand. The man pulled out an awesome piece of work. In the meantime here is his site. theirison.com (some NSFW images) If you look under illustration I think you'll find why I really wanted him on a book.

    OMFG.

That's just soooooo neat. Thanks for showing the cover, it's sweet. The book is done and ready to be released then, I presume?

The whole idea is awesome, thanks for the balls to show this to your bosses and for their appreciation of the idea. I can't wait to do a Miami Vice With Fangs chronicle. Although, if you'd guys do a Forsaken Chicago in the Mafia era... I guess I'd just have to buy the whole run and have the game for myself xD

    Re: OMFG.

No, the book's still in layout. We usually get covers early for exactly this kind of promotional work. It's still on task for release this month, though.

There may some hope for VtR yet. So far I've hated everything about Requiem and refused to play it. But this looks very cool. Awesome cover!

is this a PDF only thing, or will it be hardcopy as well?

*crosses fingers* please be hard copy!
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: February 8th, 2009 04:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
Right now it's PDF-only. I'm hoping that once we get our PoD program rolling again, we can offer it as through print-on-demand.

One thing I love about new WOD is the books you guys are putting out. I have never been so addicted to buying supplements, etc. Rock on.
