Russell starts off the meeting arguing with Aaron about shit scrapers. Later in the meeting, he volunteers to write pedophile fiction. There's a brief discussion about how well an action figure of Dace would fair against an action figure of He-Man. Russell draws a Soloman Birch plushy.

We go around the table, finishing up our New Year's resolutions. We also share our brainstormed lists of merchandise ideas. Mostly talking about the various lists we came up with.

Today's Reason to Drink: On January 12th, 1998, nineteen European nations agreed to forbid human cloning, thus keeping us from getting one step closer to EVE in real life.

Given his resemblance to Kratos from God of War, Birch might make a good plushy. Hell, just do Chicago. I'd buy Loki (suicidal pose plz).

I am ridiculously excited for New Wave Requiem, mainly because I can't wait to assault my friends with an Aqua Net-covered Daeva who quotes Frankie Goes to Hollywood (or a Nosferatu who's a little too into Oingo Boingo).

Edit: And please tell me the Birch plushy had a little fabric claw. :)

    >(or a Nosferatu who's a little too into Oingo Boingo)

I want you to take that back. There is no such thing as "too into Oingo Boingo."
cernunnos From: cernunnos Date: January 12th, 2009 09:57 pm (UTC) (Link)
Speaking as a man with a Boingo tattoo, I agree wholeheartedly, but the idea is still too funny.
From: machineiv Date: January 12th, 2009 09:59 pm (UTC) (Link)
I will definitely agree with you on that. It amuses me.

New Wave Requiem sets such a precedent, though. What's next? Disco Werewolves? Beatnik Prometheans? (On the Road, indeed...)
cernunnos From: cernunnos Date: January 13th, 2009 12:20 pm (UTC) (Link)
I still clamor for Victorian Mage.
theliel From: theliel Date: January 13th, 2009 01:24 pm (UTC) (Link)
    and New World Werewolf
(because puritan invader werewolves vs. natives during either the colonial era or french and indian war sounds like a setting where the wolves are The Man and everyone else is playing catch up)

(well, that and Brotherhood of the Wolf. though that could be an arguement for napoleonic Hunter)

You're assuming that the 80s were a campy time. To me, they were absolutely horrific. There's more to that time period than parachute pants and new wave music. Dark times indeed.
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: January 13th, 2009 06:21 pm (UTC) (Link)
Which is exactly the take I used when developing it. It's AIDS and the Cold War and rampant greed and crack cocaine.
    caesarsalad77 From: caesarsalad77 Date: January 14th, 2009 01:25 am (UTC) (Link)
Don't get me wrong. I may have been a kid for the 80', but even a kid can pick up on the general zeitgeist.

    But can't it be both?

Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?

    Re: Immortals?

Wasn't that the book of 'here be nifty NPCS'?

Also, book of the dead, part of the Hunter line?
From: narm00 Date: January 13th, 2009 06:28 pm (UTC) (Link)

    Re: Immortals?

The book of nifty NPCs is Immortal Sinners, for Vampire. Immortals is a WOD book.

Checking in on Alchemicals to make sure everything’s on track there.

John thinks we work on a track; what he doesn't realize is that trying to run Exalted on rails ends with the construction of a steam-powered daiklave out of the remains of the locomotive.

    Blue Light Special in Jita...

I'm rediculously excited about two things: New Wave Requiem and Geist. Like. Rediculously so.

    Geist!

    *dances*

the bonus material from the scion companion

    Scion Companion extras

...unless this refers to the Deva(ta)s and World at War chapters, it interests me strangely.

There's a brief discussion about how well an action figure of Dace would fair against an action figure of He-Man. Russell draws a Soloman [sic] Birch plushy.

I'd like to think there are people who would pay money for plushies and action figures of the various lines' signature characters (though I'm not sure if the sales figures on the oWOD figures support that theory). I'm trying to decide whether I'm one of them (if there were a line of Scion sig-figs, I would at least get a Sly Guiler).
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: January 14th, 2009 06:06 pm (UTC) (Link)
They do not, in fact, refer to the Devas or World at War chapters.

    Historical Fiction

Will we see more tools to help bring historical stories to our games? I ask because Historical Fiction is really taking off, so my players are asking for more historical period games.
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: January 14th, 2009 09:01 pm (UTC) (Link)

    Re: Historical Fiction

Yes, there are some more historical tools coming.

And here I was thinking that with the EVE reference in the heading we'd finally be hearing something about the board game again. There has been no mention of anything for so long not even a "it's in progress".
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: January 14th, 2009 10:54 pm (UTC) (Link)
The board game is just wrapping up at the printers, and is being prepared for shipment.
eddyfate From: eddyfate Date: January 14th, 2009 10:54 pm (UTC) (Link)
And actually, it was an Iceland reference, not an EVE reference. ;)
